ABOUT US / WHO WE ARE

During the Liberian civil war in 1989, British health workers stationed in Liberia were compelled to flee due to the prevailing circumstances. Without visas to return to their homeland, they managed to escape to Ghana through divine intervention.

Upon arriving in Ghana, they met Rev. Kissi Ayitey, an alumnus of the then Ghana Christian College and Seminary. He directed them to Rev. Dr. Manuel Budu Adjei, an Old Testament lecturer at Ghana Christian University College (formerly Ghana Christian College and Seminary), for assistance.

Rev. Dr. Manuel Adjei helped them secure their visas. Before their departure, one of the workers, Mr. Ian Humphrey, shared his and his wife’s struggle with childlessness despite many years of marriage. Rev. Manuel prayed for them and bid them farewell.

A few months later, Mr. Humphrey called to share the joyous news that his wife was pregnant. Within four years, the couple was blessed with three children. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Mr. Humphrey and his friend, Tim Harrison, returned to Ghana to express their appreciation.

During their visit, Mr. Humphrey asked Rev. Dr. Manuel, "Man of God, how can I thank God for the blessings we have received through you?" Rev. Manuel responded, "I have a passion to start a ministry in unreached areas to win souls for Christ. You can partner with me by sharing in this vision."

Deeply moved by Rev. Manuel’s selfless answer, Mr. Humphrey and his associates supported the ministry financially. Rev. Dr. Manuel began the ministry in 1993 with Pastor John Adjei Mensah, a student at the college. Their pioneering work started in Agona Mansofo in the Central Region.

In the same year, Pastor Fred Amoaning, a recent graduate, established churches in Agona Akwakor and Agona Akokoasa in the Agona District of the Central Region. In 1994, Pastor George Ribeiro (of blessed memory) planted a church in Praprababida in the Eastern Region.

This effort was followed by Evangelist Kumi Duodu in 1995 and Pastor Isaac Opuni-Akosah, who planted a church in Offinso in the Ashanti Region in 1996. Pastor Alfred Acheampong Yeboah later started a branch in Kasoa, while Pastor Alex Abban-Quarshie established one in Abeka, Accra.

All these workers were supported financially by Mr. Ian Humphrey and his associates. Mr. Humphrey initially called the ministry "Support a West Africa Pastor" (SWAP). However, to better reflect the vision, Rev. Manuel renamed it Reach the Unreached Now Missions, abbreviated as Run Mission Assemblies.

Today, the church has extended its reach into six regions of Ghana: Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Volta, and Bono. It now has thirteen churches. Hallelujah! To God be the glory—great things He has done. Amen.
