Our God has been so good to us since reopening of schools in January. There is a lot of progress as far as academic work is concern. COVID PROTOCOLS are being observed: Social Distancing, washing of hands , temperature taking every morning and wearing of mask and others.
- SETBACKS
- ENROLMENT
Most of our pupils did not return as was expected but the few who came are happily learning.
Our enrolment has been reduced from 105 to 63. We have had 10 admissions so far making our enrolment 73 now.
FACTOR AFFECTING OUR ENROLMENT
- Some parents lost their jobs during COVID .19 and have relocated as they have gained new jobs outside Offinso.
- The Government is now providing free Education and free feeding to all public schools as a political agenda. So most of our private schools have lost their pupils to the public schools.
- TEACHERS
Three of our teachers did not return. Two have sought for other jobs because we could not pay them during school closure. One has gain admission to further her Education. We have employed two and still need one teacher.
- CLOSURE OF CLASS THREE:
Before school closure class three had an enrolment of 10 pupils but when school reopened only 4 returned. Employing a teacher to teach only four was a problem. The people informed their parent about the situation. Two of them came for a transfer so management was compelled to transfer all of them to another school.
- ENCOURAGING NEWS
- DR. ANGEL SKINNER VOLUNTEERING WORK.
Dr Skinner read about Run Mission International Volunteering Opportunity on Idealist.org and shown interest to teach the little children who were staying home during school closure due to COVID 19 Pandemic.
Since September I have had a lot of contacts with Dr Skinner. She asked if I can organize some few children for her to teach them ENGLISH one hour a week. I agreed and started organizing the children who stay close to my house. I initially got 9 children for her to teach on zoom. Unfortunately, our internet service was not good to have zoom meeting. We tried three time to no avail and so chose to Whatshapp video call. She has taught them NOUNS for about six months now.
When we started some of the children out of excitement informed their friends about Dr.Skinner’s teachings. Their friends told their parents. The parents started calling to find out if our school has started having classes for our pupils. It was illegal to have class due to COVID.19. So I have to explain matters to them.
By God’s grace the government reopened schools in January. Dr. Skinner has continued her teaching one hour every Friday till now. Her dedication, sacrifice and service has propelled the children to a very high level. There has been a great impact on the children’s life and studies. She has taught a lot of English words, pronunciations and their meaning. They can now speak good English
The number of children in the class has grown to 19. This is amazing.
